Aquabus Across False Creek

The Aquabus seen here is a little ferry boat system that can take you from Vancouver Downtown to Granville Island, David Lam Park, Stamp's Landing, Olympic Village, Yaletown, Plaza of Nations and Science World. We took our bicycles on board for the approx 2 minute ride from the station at Hornby Street to Granville Island, then cycled the rest of the way around False Creek.
Star America

Cargo ships are a common sight in the harbour around Vancouver, and they're huge! This ship called the Star America was built in 1985. It's 169 metres long and about 30,000 tonnes deadweight. That's the equivalent of 1-1/2 football fields long and about 20,100 passenger cars total in weight! How does it stay afloat? The size of these ships don't quite strike you until you see the size of a regular passenger pleasurecraft in comparison:
Off to See the Dog
This was heading to the airport and the ride over to see Scooby for Christmas. She was happy to see us.
Getting Around False Creek
If you're lucky enough to have a boat and the opportunity of leisure time to travel to Vancouver, Pelican Bay Marina pictured above at the Granville Island Hotel is an option for you for temporary moorage. Then you can take a colourful Aquabus across False Creek to upscale Yaletown. Oh, to have the free time. And money.
Clear for Landing
I'm always amazed when on an airplane at how the giant piece of metal I'm sitting in is able to take off and stay up there with all the weight on it. Here's one landing during sunset at the Pitt Meadows Airport.
Motorcycle Wrapped
We're all familiar with the prank of covering the toilet seat with seran wrap, or toilet papering somebody's desk at work, and at first when I saw this I thought what a funny practical joke! But this was at a bike shop. There was no nefarious reasoning to it.
Pao!
Upon exiting a local grocery store, I was impressed to see this Nissan Pao in the parking lot. Very few of this retro-styled model were sold back in 1989, and the mild West Coast weather has helped preserve it alongside owner(s) that have obviously cared for it over the years. A peek inside the rain-soaked windows below shows that this one was automatic, not the more sought after manual transmission, albeit it was still completely intriguing. There was something dangling from the rearview mirror, and a bag of higher-end Nutro cat food on the passenger seat. Must be a female driver... who likes cats:
Beware of Dog… and Take Your Shoes Off
The "Beware of Dog" warning on the driver's side of this semi truck I can understand if the driver takes his dog with him on the road for companionship and security. The addition of "No Shoes" though is starting to make this truck cab look more like a residence.
