Affordable Gastown Accommodation
I was in Gastown last weekend having lunch across from this supposed place you can stay at that has "New, Clean Rooms". After looking in the front window I noticed a utilitarian bucket from Home Depot (a building/home renovation supply store) and a rotary telephone on the front desk that's from 1982. These things advertised in the front window spell neither "clean" nor "new".

It’s Not a Mini Casa Loma
This is somebody's day-to-day house. They undertook a renovation by keeping the bones of the original structure then applying a rock façade to the front à la medieval castle style. If there were a moat and trojan horse out front instead of a couple Hondas then it might look less Back-To-The-Future-ish.
