The Sunset Scene

The sun sets in the West, and the West Coast is a great place to be if you're a fan of catching glimpses of spectacular colour combinations. They come in all shapes and colours, with accessories too like a reflective cloud seen here.

Honda S2000 Sporting a Sunset

Most people take pictures of their pets or kids. This is an important part of my family. Photo snapped at Crescent Beach at sunset.

Horseshoe Bay Way

For those of you unfamiliar with the area, this vista across Horseshoe Bay is the visual epitome of coastal British Columbia. The only thing missing is a ferry boat.

Stave Lake + Winter + Idiot

We certainly enjoy the stark differences that all four seasons affords us in BC.

For example, contrast the surroundings of Stave Lake in the summer on a calm and peaceful day....

with what the surroundings of Stave Lake can be in the winter. Highlight is the "open the door" part at the end. And you thought your car was dirty....

Granville Island Sea Village

Do you think sleeping on a waterbed is fun? You can expand that concept to living fulltime on a houseboat in this community of Sea Village at Granville Island. I'm not sure how comfortable it would be when the waters in False Creek get choppy, but on the flipside you'd never have to concern yourself with mowing a lawn or watering the grass.

Getting Around False Creek

If you're lucky enough to have a boat and the opportunity of leisure time to travel to Vancouver, Pelican Bay Marina pictured above at the Granville Island Hotel is an option for you for temporary moorage. Then you can take a colourful Aquabus across False Creek to upscale Yaletown. Oh, to have the free time. And money.

Okanagan Life

A backyard view over Lake Okanagan. No wonder the Okanagan Valley is popular with retirees, hockey players and word was at one point that Arnold Schwarzenegger had a summer home here too. It's the closest thing we come to Arizona north of the 49th parallel.

A Line of Quails’ Gate Wine

The tasting bar at Quails' Gate Winery in West Kelowna was bustling this past weekend. Glasses were lined up and ready to go. They must have a high capacity dishwasher for fine stemware, or somebody with quick but dishpan hands!
Even if you aren't a wine drinker, the vistas alone are worth a visit...

A Balcony View

Working a photo of the vista from my balcony that is free from retail signs and residential rooftops relegates the picture to treetops only, but they're still pretty treetops. And colourful. It's almost starting to feel like summer, and all is in bloom.

The Seattle Space Needle and Its Neighbours

A day trip to Seattle was in order this past weekend. There's a number of border crossing posts to choose from in order to get from the Vancouver area to Seattle, and it's like choosing a line at the grocery store - why does it always feel like you choose the slowest one? Our first crossing choice was unwise as we were met by an hour-long wait, so we trekked over to see the wait time at another crossing, which ended up being more bearable. We Canadians like to visit the US. Especially when our dollar is good.
