Half Apron Inspiration
Tutorials abound on the internet for those wanting to learn something new. For me lately it's been sewing. I'm a beginner, and it's hard to find beginner-level directions to sew things properly that aren't hokey and/or look obviously homemade. This tutorial for a half apron is fantastic, and if you're in the same boat I am skill-wise then you'll find it easy to follow too. I made mine longer because I'm messier than most!
Build Your Own Lightbox
Inspiration from Strobist's How To: DIY $10 Macro Photo Studio article is what kept me occupied last Sunday afternoon. After visiting the local dollar store and re-purposing one of my moving boxes, I crafted together a do-it-yourself lightbox: Cut out large windows in the sides and top of the box then tape some tracing paper or any other white transparent material over the windows. Hang white cloth or white paper from inside the top of the box and let it drape to bend out and cover the floor of the box. The box itself might not be pretty what with its visual aesthetics rivaling that which a kindergartener would fabricate together between sandbox and nap times, but it gives a cool effect with my favourite hot beverage:
