Nerine, the Star of the Show
Against a glittery backdrop.... here's Nerine!
I think it's a pretty name, but you don't hear that flower name used much as a given first name for girls, like: Lily, Jasmine, Daisy, Willow, Holly, Iris, Rose, Violet.
If you're lucky and have a sweetheart partner, you may be called Buttercup or Sweetpea.
Your Grandpa might be a Poppy.
Nobody wants to be called a Pansy.

Fuzzy Catkin
In land of the rising sun fashion, here's a twig of pussy willow with a cuddly catkin highlighted. It looks warm, but it's not the real sun in the background. It's the essence of the sun emulated by a flash and coloured posterboard. Still makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside nonetheless.
These Lions Ain’t So Dandy

When I was living where I had yards, weeds were the bane of my gardening existence. I'd collect an entire yard waste bag full of them every week and curse the lawns around me for letting theirs go to seed and float onto my lawn to spur more. Now with apartment living can you believe I actually went out in search of a dandelion in bloom to retrieve and bring home to photograph?!
Doppleganger Lily
In playing with lighting for this photo I was entertained by the shadowy version that resulted at one point. It reminded me of a doppleganger. Lily on the left panel is the dark and brooding evil one that lurks in the shadows of alleyways. Lily on the right is the personable counterpart who's valedictorian of the class and a ham for attention.
Mum’s the Word
It was back into the macro studio with some fresh cut flower stems. A spider mum this time, also known as a football mum. There's a fly in the apartment, and these flowers are known for their ability to produce a natural insecticide, so we'll see just how long this fly ends up flying around in here.
Mimosa… No, Not That Type
This Mimosa doesn't contain champagne, but it's just as exciting. It's a bloom of the African Mimosa plant (mimosa pudica I believe) found at the Bloedel Conservatory, and it's striking.
In the Tropics
I didn't see a label for this plant in the Bloedel Conservatory, but it's some sort of tropical that thrives in a humid environment (if anybody knows the variety then please let me know). Normally in Vancouver lush natural surroundings aren't for want, but the dead yellow grass everywhere illustrates that this summer has been dry as a bone.
Lily in the Glass
Experimenting with a cheap piece of glass from Ikea, some lights and a calla lily from the local flower shop.
You’ve Been Pink’d
I don't know why, but this shot makes me feel like the Easter Bunny is coming. I guess just because of the pastel colours since I don't think Gerbera Daisies are spring flowers.
