Doppleganger Lily
In playing with lighting for this photo I was entertained by the shadowy version that resulted at one point. It reminded me of a doppleganger. Lily on the left panel is the dark and brooding evil one that lurks in the shadows of alleyways. Lily on the right is the personable counterpart who's valedictorian of the class and a ham for attention.
Mum’s the Word
It was back into the macro studio with some fresh cut flower stems. A spider mum this time, also known as a football mum. There's a fly in the apartment, and these flowers are known for their ability to produce a natural insecticide, so we'll see just how long this fly ends up flying around in here.
All That Sparkles Is Not Diamonds
Ok, so it's part of an experiment and exercise in timing, trying to get the shutter going to capture some interesting drops of water I'm throwing into a dish while getting the flash and reflector to illuminate it interestingly and clearly. Admittedly I need further practice, but I ended up being impressed with the completely unexpected pure sparkle effect that water droplets can give when shot with a ray of light. You could stick one of those in a ring and impress a girl!
In The Weeds
I sourced this from the vacant lot around the corner thinking it was chamomile, but it might just be some sort of daisy. I think it's artsy and pretty... although it's kind of weird to compliment a weed like that since these things usually just get pulled out from the lawn along with 4-letter words.
Moth About Town
The fuzzyness makes it kind of cute and cuddly looking, but it's no teddy bear.
Lily in the Glass
Experimenting with a cheap piece of glass from Ikea, some lights and a calla lily from the local flower shop.
You’ve Been Pink’d
I don't know why, but this shot makes me feel like the Easter Bunny is coming. I guess just because of the pastel colours since I don't think Gerbera Daisies are spring flowers.
A Celiac’s Best Friend
All of you who also have an intolerance to wheat I'm sure appreciate this grain as much as I do. Rice is nice.
