Mexican Hideaway

It's really difficult to find good Mexican food in Canada (in contrast to our friends south of the border). The only delicious place I knew of was way across the country in St. Catharines, Ontario called Eh José, and I think they only sold food through market stands and food carts. A local discovery has been that we on the West Coast also have a gem of a place in Langley to satisfy those hankerings for Mexican cuisine, called Cielito Lindo. As you can see above, the establishment is nothing fancy to look at so don't let that deter you if you head over there or walk by and peek in the windows. Think of it more as a café, with EXCELLENT food. Priced well, hearty serving sizes and really lip-smacking delicious. I get the tamales every time:

The not-so-fancy restaurant are always the best! There’s an awesome place in East Lansing, Michigan should you ever find yourself in those environs. It’s nice to have a Mexican restaurant standby. That being said, Mexican is off the menu for me…too many unknown variables for my *&^% restrictive diet. ((sigh)) I ordered a GF pizza the other night and naturally I thought of you and said to myself, ‘Oooh, I’ll have to document this for a cyberspace comparison.’ Of course, by the time I fetched the pizza I was ravenous and really couldn’t deal with the concept of taking out my camera gear and concentrating long enough to capture the appropriate shot. Long story short, that pizza is in my belly….maybe next time.

I will keep East Lansing in mind for Mexican cuisine! Michigan for Mexican? Who knew. And i always just stick to the stuff made of corn to avoid the wheat thing, eventhough burritos and quesadillas would be so tasty… but it’s usually the soft wheat tortillas used for those dishes. Do take a pic of the gluten free pizza next time. We can start a collage of gluten-free pizzas around the world
