The Land That Ugly Forgot The Bewildering, Beautiful and Blithe Happenings Around Vancouver, BC

Java Hut

I'm having fun with my new macro lens, getting up close and personal with one of my favourite noshes. Coffee beans brewed in hot water not only make a deliciously necessary morning beverage, they're also a snack that is tasty on their own. A warning though that weird looks will come your way when you reach into a bag and eat handfuls of coffee beans as you would popcorn or nuts. My poor teeth... I'll bet crunching on roasted coffee beans isn't recommended by even 1 out of 5 dentists.

  1. This is a remarkable shot. I can smell the coffee all the way over here. It looks like a poster you’d see walking into a coffee house. Very cool! Your macro shots are amazing. I cannot say, though, I’ve ever nibbled on coffee beans. Curious idea.

  2. Crunching on coffee beans? Hmmm…maybe the ones coated in chocolate would be more to your liking!!

  3. I’d never either until recently, and I’ve enjoyed the discovery! More well-known are the chocolate covered coffee beans, so these are just like those but without the layer of cocoa and sugar. Kind of like a sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of bread :)

  4. Those would be preferred, but at 8:30am I’m trying to keep a lid on chocolate consumption! And sometimes a little boost without going to the trouble of actually making coffee is in order. Red Bull and Rockstar have nothing on ingesting plain roasted coffee beans. haha

  5. I’m sure you won’t get too many funny looks as they look like nuts from a distance, great shot.

  6. Thank you! … they would look like nuts from a distance, until somebody gets up close and I start talking to them *coffee breath!* haha

  7. I appreciate the drop-by, and the kind comment :)

  8. You and the macro lens make a superb combination: looking forward to lots more! No pressure then. Thanks again and don’t get too high on your caffeine fixes.

  9. Thanks ever so much! I am a work in progress, and it’s super to get feedback. I’m afraid I’m on a flower theme lately, but tis the season :)
