Granville Island Sea Village

Do you think sleeping on a waterbed is fun? You can expand that concept to living fulltime on a houseboat in this community of Sea Village at Granville Island. I'm not sure how comfortable it would be when the waters in False Creek get choppy, but on the flipside you'd never have to concern yourself with mowing a lawn or watering the grass.

  1. These aren’t the kind of houseboats I’m used to seeing. It looks like a large houseboat commune.

  2. Every time I see this village I want to live there. It’s the boardwalks!

  3. I’d probably get seasick. But it’s still such a charming community! I’d never heard of such a thing before this. Fascinating.

Fantastic shot too, especially with the houseboats’ contrast with the towering modern buildings in the background.

  4. Good thing it doesn’t snow much here since I can’t imagine shoveling those boardwalks! The frustration of the shovel getting stuck in between all those ruts…

  5. ahmigawd! i wanna live there so bad! i was actually just yesterday trying to convince my coworkers that a $60,000 mortgage for a 735 sq foot house boat was a WAY better investment than a $189,000 465 sq foot condo. Sadly, they didn’t see my reasoning….

  6. Each has its pros and cons I guess, but a big draw is can you imagine how much more challenging and fun Dance Dance Revolution would be on a houseboat during a wind storm?!
