Not that a whole host of other things while driving shouldn't be illegal either, like a) doing one's makeup, b) talking to a passenger or c) getting little Johnny to stop hitting little Jane in the backseat of the car, but using a cellphone without a handsfree device while driving became against the law as of February 1, 2010 for drivers in British Columbia. To some, the laws are apparently meant to be broken. Or simply ignored.
