Flying High

These guys caught me off guard in trying to get the right lens on my camera in time to get a half-decent photo while traveling down the highway past Hope. Apparently this is called aerotowing. The tow plane was likely towing the glider to the place and height where the glider pilot would have released the rope. I couldn't stick around long enough to confirm this is what happened though.

  1. You are quite right, that is what usually happens. Do you remember the plane that was landed in New York on the Hudson River with no loss of life? Apparently the pilot had been a glider pilot at one stage and he says it was that training which helped him to execute the difficult manouvre of landing on water.

  2. In that case I think all pilots should have glider training as part of their certification…!
