The Land That Ugly Forgot The Bewildering, Beautiful and Blithe Happenings Around Vancouver, BC

The Path to Somewhere

Vancouver is beautiful, but your bank account usually sustains some damage if you want to go somewhere and do something. You have to pay for parking everywhere, even seemingly in the middle of nowhere up in the mountains so long as it's deemed a tourist attraction of some sort. Lynn Canyon in North Vancouver is a gem of a location. There's a suspension bridge, waterfalls, a lake, tons of trails, well-marked paths and even a cafeteria. And it's all free! No ridiculous parking charges. No entrance fees to cross the bridge. This location definitely gets two green and financially-conscious thumbs up.

  1. Wait, you’re not one of those tree huggers now that you moved to BC are you? Financially-conscious OK, but green thumbs? I don’t know about that. We all know global warming is a myth.

  2. Every living thing needs a big hug…. especially a tree, before it viciously gets chopped down and hacked to pieces. I’m so green now I’m thinking of buying a Honda Insight. But a Crystal Black Pearl one. To make a morbid eco-friendly statement.

  3. boooo on that Insight :) Buy a Fitoooh. Way better! :) Better yet, be stylish in an Aaaahdeee or a VEEdub. you can get Diesel if you want to be all clean and green. It’s just that the insight interior has the materials of a kinder egg toy. I love kinder egg toys, but they usually cost $1.50, not $23,900 + freight +tax.

  4. The Germans make good Kinders, but if I get a German VEEdub ow-toh then the check Engine light will always be on. I’d rather have the hassle of figuring out how to put the Kinder toy together than how to troubleshoot an engine defect.

  5. your German mekanik Franz Dieter will fix any check engine lights at blitzkrieg speeds, don’t worry about that! :)

  6. I wish I knew a Franz Dieter out here!! I’m paying the guys at Kal Tire regular retail pricing to perform mekaniks. And I’m also soliciting the Great Canadian Oil Change because I can’t do my own lube & filter in my condo garage since I think imminent oil spills during this procedure would be against strata rules.

  7. Among many other handy things I have jackstands, an oil filter wrench and a compressor in my garage… and probably even a HONDA oil filter or two on the shelf… all of which you are welcome to.

Also in the garage will be a gentleman on a lawn chair with a beer and a bemused smile, as I have never seen a girl change her own oil before. :)

  8. I may take you up on that one! OEM filters are like gold :) I used to change over my tires on the good ol Element too > a girl with a jack can do anything.
